17,700 USD has been donated to the United States Hereditary Angioedema Association (HAEA) by Dyax Corp in support of hae day :-) – the first international awareness day for Hereditary Angioedema.
Dyax made the donation after fundraising activity at the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology Annual Meeting in Florida from March 2 – 6. Part of the Dyax booth at the meeting was devoted to recognizing hae day :-) and featured two treadmills on which conference attendees were invited to walk or run. The company pledged 100 USD to the HAEA for every mile registered by clinicians, academicians and health professionals. One physician alone ran ten miles, generating a donation of 1,000 USD.
Janet Long, HAEA Executive Vice President, said: ‘The US HAE Association and our members are grateful for Dyax's on-going efforts to raise awareness of HAE. We also appreciate the fundraising support that will further our mission to help patients and their families achieve lifelong health’. The full Dyax press release is available on the HAEi website.
Everyone can get involved in fundraising activities to support hae day :-) – from sponsored challenges to tea parties and bake sales. It is simple to share details of planned events on haeday.org, while donations can also be made through the site. Each and every contribution to hae day :-), no matter how big or small, will help national HAE member organizations continue their work around the world.
