The events page on haeday.org is getting longer each week as people post details of their plans to mark hae day :-) on May 16 or before. Yet it is hoped that many more events will be organized and uploaded from all over the world, to maximize HAE awareness and raise funds for HAEi national member organizations. To help those who are thinking about ways to get involved, a summary of the imaginative ideas that have already been submitted is provided below.

Bowl-for-HAE in Kearney, Nebraska will raise funds for the Unites States Hereditary Angioedema Association (HAEA). Participants pay a fee which allows two hours of ten-pin bowling, with proceeds going to benefit the programs and services of the HAEA.

Germany sees three cities taking part in a mass photography session co-ordinated by the German patient organization. In Berlin, Mainz and Frankfurt, patients and healthcare professionals will be equipped with umbrellas, some featuring the logo of the German patient organization and some featuring the hae day :-) logo. Participants will then be photographed holding the umbrellas individually and in groups, with the resulting images shared on May 17 at the 2012 HAE Global Conference in Copenhagen.

Confirming that people are getting active for hae day :-), two separate walks have been submitted to the events page on haeday.org. May 12 in Orlando, Florida sees a ‘Walk A Thon’ while on hae day :-) itself four days later, Cullman, Alabama, will host the Lyndon Brooke Stidham Memorial Walk for HAE.

Events will help achieve the hae day :-) goal –  to raise awareness of Hereditary Angioedema among the general public and medical community, with the aim of creating an environment in which there is better care, earlier and more accurate diagnosis and knowledge that HAE patients can lead a healthy life. Remember you can use haeday.org to share details of your event and to donate any money you raise.
